Insight House is currently seeking candidates for the following positions: 


Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner 

*THIS IS A PART TIME OPPORTUNITY

  • Performance of duties similar to a psychiatric physician.
  • Provide consultation services to the Forensic Mental Health Unit Program.
  • Provide monitoring and adjustment of medications of identified inmates, provide consultation, and recommendations for identified inmates, as well as provide assessments.
  • Speak to patients about their feelings, diagnose the patients mental health.
  • Work closely with therapists and psychiatrist to promote mental health.

Residential Aide –  Full-time & Per Diem 

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

Residential Aides must be reliable and dependable individuals to work directly with clients in a long term residential program, making sure clients follow the rules and regulations of the program,and assist residents in meeting their needs. Keep specific records on each resident and monitor self-administered medications. Provide supporting documentation for all client/caller contacts.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES/DUTIES:

Document & report pertinent information to residents’ counselor/Program Director. Other documentation as assigned. Store, chart & monitor residents’ self-administered medications per State regulations. Work with Medical Director or Nurse in regard to residents’ physical examinations & medication needs.Transport clients to appointments. Monitor visiting hours. Perform first aid as required.Other duties as assigned.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Basic everyday living skills are needed, as is ability to understand and follow oral and written directions. Able to assume responsibility, have acceptable management skills and function calmly in emergency situations. A general knowledge base of mental health,alcohol and other drug abuse,and developmental disabilities, and the laws pertaining to these conditions is desirable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required. NYS Driver License required.


LPN- Full Time

Qualifications: Current NYS LPN license required. Job Type: Full-time, Sunday through Thursday, 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM

The position requires an understanding and skill in routine nursing practices, including, but not limited to:

  • Providing routine nursing care to patients, reports to RN any changes in health;
  • Observes patients taking medications prescribed by a physician and documents the event;
  • Maintains an inventory of health supplies and equipment;
  • Counsels patients on health/hygiene/medical issues individually and in a group format;
  • Interviews patients and obtains a medical history;
  • Participates in Treatment Team meeting

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Working knowledge of practical nursing techniques and their relation to sanitation and hygiene; working knowledge of signs and symptoms of physical and emotional health related to substance abuse; ability to apply therapeutic treatments as prescribes; ability to understand and accurately carry out detailed oral and written instructions in an accurate manner; ability to prepare accurate reports and records;ability to communicate and relate to Program target populations in a non­-judgmental manner; ability to work as part of a team; possess an interest in working with chemically dependency patients; ability to maintain professional relationships and to appropriately utilize authority over others; ability to exercise sound judgment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Possession of a current valid license as a Licensed Practical Nurse issued by the State of New York and three (3) years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Note: A CASAC credential may be substituted for experience.


Building Maintenance Superintendent – Full Time

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

This title encompasses a wide scope of specialized positions within the Facility. Incumbents in this title may be sought who possess skills in food service, security. This is the senior level position in this series and the incumbent is expected, at the time of hire, to possess extensive expertise in a special skill area. Incumbents in this position oversee lower level staff or a sub­-section of responsibility for a component or service/operations area. Wide latitude is given to independent judgment in the application of prescribed procedures and methods. Initiative is required. The incumbent must be able to analyze an assignment and develop a strategy improve operations, resolving a problem and recommending needed resources. Also required is the ability to plan for future needs and recommend a plan to address such needs. Supervision is provided by the President and CEO or Vice President. Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES/DUTIES:

Completes detailed reports and logs, as required of the position. Recommends procedures, equipment, materials necessary to carry out or improve the operation. Researches programs, procedures, equipment that are necessary to accomplish the tasks. Establishes relationships with vendors,contractors, suppliers, entities.

Conducts employee performance appraisals relating to the employee the degree to which they meet job expectations; Supervises staff as assigned.

FOOD SERVICE:

Oversees and directs the preparation of all operations of the food service including preparation, ordering, planning for all Program sites. Coordinates food delivery for all sites. Ensures that equipment and the kitchen and dining areas are maintained in accordance with DOH, OASAS, safety and other regulations/requirements. Monitors food expenditures ensuring that they are kept within budgetary limits. Projects expenses and off-setting revenue. Serves as liaison with suppliers, contractors. Keeps up-to-date on the latest in equipment, regulations, food items. Supervises all food service staff.
FACILITY:

Develops a security plan for all Program sites. Supervises all staff assigned security duties. Oversees security for all Program sites. Responds to emergencies involving disturbances, law violations, property and personal harm situations. Monitors the facility to ensure that order and adherence to behavioral rules and laws are
maintained. Instructs staff in security precautions, emergency response; Recommends staffing levels. Recommends equipment. Projects costs for security operations. Oversees fleet of Program vehicles ensuring that vehicles are maintained in a ready for use status. Develops a plan for securing vehicles and keys and supervises implementation of the plan; Ensures that Program facilities are maintained in compliance with regulatory and code requirements, including plans for designated use and development of safety and security policies and procedures. Ensures that procedures are in place so that the building is secure and that no unauthorized persons are on site. Maintains logs on vehicle usage. Prepares reports on violations, incidents (including untoward incidents) occurring at program sites, to program patients/personnel/visitors. Reports on vehicle usage patterns. Recommends number and types of vehicles required.

Comprehensive knowledge in a specialize area; good judgment; flexibility; ability to take direction, understand and carry out complex initiatives, ability to work as part of a team; comprehensive knowledge of methods,terminology, procedures and equipment used within the specialized area; ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of others; sound judgment in solving complex problems; ability to perform tasks with a high degree of accuracy; possess an interest in working in a program which serves chemically dependent individuals; ability to communicate and relate to Program target populations in a non- judgmental manner; ability to maintain professional relationships and to appropriately utilize authority over others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED and five (5) years of experience in the area of specialty for which a candidate is sought. NYS Drivers License required.
